The basic tools that are used for research in our lab are described here in the Methodology section. Cell modeling tools include the Hodgkin-Huxeley based models of the ventricular action potential including the Luo-Rudy dynamic (LRd) mammalian, and the Hund-Rudy dynamic (HRd) canine model. Markovian based descriptions of INa, IKr HERG and IKs currents used in the context of the whole cell model to study the phenotypical effects of mutations of the cardiac action potential and component processes are outlined. A simple, but important method to account for charge administered by external stimulation is also described.
